Who says financial struggles can limit your dreams? The story of Raeni, the daughter of a humble rickshaw driver from Kendal, Central Java, proves otherwise. She grew up in a simple household, but her passion for learning never faded. Her father’s endless support, pedaling his rickshaw every day, became her biggest source of strength. Raeni’s journey—from her father’s rickshaw to earning a doctoral degree in England—shows that dreams can be achieved by anyone.

Raeni was born into a modest family. Her father, Mugiyono, worked as a rickshaw driver to support them. Despite their financial hardships, Raeni never gave up. Instead, her condition pushed her to work even harder. She earned admission to Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) through the Bidikmisi scholarship program for underprivileged students.

On campus, she didn’t just study—she excelled. With unwavering determination, Raeni graduated as the best student at Unnes with an almost perfect GPA of 3.96. One of the most touching moments was when her father pedaled his rickshaw from Kendal to Semarang just to accompany her on graduation day.

After completing her undergraduate degree, Raeni didn’t stop dreaming. She continued her studies abroad with the help of the LPDP scholarship. Her persistence and hard work led her to the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, where she pursued and eventually completed her doctoral degree. From being the daughter of a rickshaw driver in a small town, she has now become an inspiring figure, even mentioned by Indonesia’s Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani, as a living example of how education can change lives.

An Inspirational Message for Students🌟

Raeni’s story is not only about her success but also about the encouragement she shares with others. In an interview with Detik News, she delivered a powerful message: “If you have the ability and keep working hard, God willing, you will succeed. Everything indeed starts with a dream, but if you chase it with God’s blessing, strong spirit, and determination, success will come.” (Kalau misalnya punya kemampuan terus berusaha, insya Allah bisa berhasil. Semua memang dari mimpi, tapi karena dikejar dengan ridho Allah dan dengan semangat dan tekad kuat pasti bisa berhasil.)

Raeni’s journey proves that dreams know no boundaries, not even poverty. Financial struggles are not obstacles—they can be the very reason to push harder. For students, her story is a reminder that college is not just about grades or diplomas, but also about the courage to dream big and the perseverance to achieve it. From her father’s rickshaw in Kendal to the academic halls of Birmingham, Raeni’s story shines as living proof that with effort, prayers, and determination, no dream is too high to reach. 🌍✨
